Magda Frauenberg (*1996 in Innsbruck / Austria) studies at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. 

She works with stereotypical images of women found both in earlier and more recent art history, as well as in the iconography of Tyrol with its traditional customs and folk rituals, all of which reflect inherited gender roles and continue to have an impact on contemporary social structures. Folkloric objects such as bell belts, kasettl hats, crampons or scold’s bridles act as a catalyst for the artist’s process of appropriation, revision and rewriting of associated narratives and, via multimedia installations, objects and drawings, give rise to a hybrid vocabulary of forms consisting of highly symbolic motifs and pop-cultural quotations, which go hand in hand with a reassessment of the ‘female perspective’ in the current art world.
