Angélique Aubrit & Ludovic Beillard - Besser ein gesunder Esel als ein krankes Pferd (Claudia) - Steirischerherbst 25’ (2025), Graz, Austria
As the capitalist system collapses on the surface of the Earth, four martens gather in a basement to imagine a new system.
CLAUDIA: If you place a unit here, it will slowly descend but it cannot go back up.
RACHIDA: And then?
CLAUDIA: You must be patient.
CLAUDIA: It slowly rolls to the other side, and there, it goes back up by itself.
RACHIDA: That’s impossible.
SERGE: It’s the reversed tension.
CLAUDIA: He’s right: the subject gets frustrated…
SERGE: Let me explain to her.
SERGE: The subject races downhill; it first attempts to struggle against the fall, then falls in such a state of disappointment that…that it falls asleep while falling.
RACHIDA: And then?
SERGE: The speed of the fall triggers the activation of the subject’s internal system.
RACHIDA: I don’t see it.
CLAUDIA: The system is running, but the subject holds against it so the system produces a very powerful electrical signal.
RACHIDA: It’s impressive, indeed.
CLAUDIA: When the unit reaches the other side of the slope, it can no longer be stopped.
RACHIDA: And how many units can circulate in the same generator?
CLAUDIA: For now, if we drop them eight seconds apart, we can get nine units for thirty-six minutes. But it’s still very dangerous.
